De eerste cirkel is rond. Na ongeveer 2,5 maand ben ik weer terug in Mexico city en bereid ik me mentaal voor op de sigaren, rum en salsa van Cuba! Mexico is een mooie ervaring geworden. Het land heeft enorm veel te bieden: van bergen met sneeuwtoppen tot woestijnen en witte stranden, van torilla tot taco en van reggeaton tot mariachi en salsa. Mijn spaans heeft niet het niveau waar ik van tevoren over droomde, maar ik heb nog een aantal maanden om te oefenen (yeah right!). Bovenal was het uniek om een tijdje als God in Mexico te leven en een kijkje te kunnen nemen in de keuken van de welvarende Mexicaanse klasse. Ik moet bekennen, zo`n leventje is mij op het lijf geschreven, alhoewel er niets boven een broodje bal gaat en een potje voetbal om 10:00 uur zondagochtend. Oost, west, thuis best, toch?
De laatste dagen werden Nick en ik nog even heerlijk in de watten gelegd door onze Mexicaanse amigo´s. Tevens heb ik na mijn beloofte ingelost en Marianna meegenomen naar de beste taco-joint van heel Mexico City. Had ik dat maar niet gedaan: 24 uur boven een emmer gehangen, ziek als een Mexicaanse straathond!
